Knowledge sharing, my @$$
Just had the latest in the series of completely asinine conversations with the server admins. The development server would go down (not technically going down but staying with us as an undead server presence -- pingable but not SSHable).
[me] is [development server name] rebooting? it just hung on me.
[server admin #2] not that i am aware
[server admin #2] i think it is the same problem that [server admin #1] was supposed to have fixed
[me] umm
[me] is he in today?
[server admin #2] nope
[me] aggr
[me] how did you fix the problem last week -- rebooted the server?
[server admin #2] i did not fix the problem. he did it. and he did not give me the details of the fix
[me] What are my options if I want to continue working on this werver today?

[server admin #2] is the server hanging on you when you have an ssh session or a web session, meaning accessing the web server?

[me] I never even get the login prompt on SSH
[server admin #2] yup. it seems that [server admin #1] did not fix the problem. we can reboot the server and see what happens
