The world didn't end. Who would've thought?!
The timeline went like this:
Point 1, July 2005
Government: Daylight Savings should arrive early and leave late.
Business: oh, whatever, Microsoft will take care of it
Individual: *zzzzzz*
Point 2, end of 2006
Government: Told you we were serious!
Businesses: FYI: OMG! DST Y2K! MS, where'z our patchez?!
Individual: *zzzzz*
Point 3, about 3 weeks before the new DST
Government: *Frowns*, looks at estimated business spending related to new DST. Funny, how much did we say US was saving with the new DST rules?
Businesses: Oh, shit.
Business XYZ: oh, double-shit. The regular patch worked, but the patch specifically designed for us by $BIG_COMPANY was buggy. Need to re-patch everything
Individual: hmm, the TV box said something about some energy act. Wonder what they meant. Oh, well, no time -- American Idol is on!
Point 4, now
Everyone: whatever.
Yearly overtime budget: oh, shit
