Credit monitoring

Dec 29, 2006 13:44

Just realized that my Equifax credit monitoring expired and they couldn't charge my credit card this year, as the number has changed.

Well, if it didn't happen, I would continue paying for the service -- I got on-demand free credit reports out of it. However, now that it did expire and Equifax cancelled my subscription without telling me about it, I am not going to renew.

First of all, the current rate is $30 more expensive than what I would pay for a regular renewal. And yes, I can probably call them and ask for the better rate, but I'm too lazy to do it.

And second, it's been more than two years since my identity has been stolen. There have been no recurrences, and I have since changed both, my name and my address. I figure, three free credit reports per year, one every 4 months should take care of the possibility that some crook will come across my SSN again.

Time will show if I am right to do it.
