My cat Pearls somehow managed to break off her right upper fang last week, and I have no idea how. I was worried that it could've happened in a fight with Grundy, but both
knghtsky and the vet said that cat fights rarely result in that kind of damage. I suppose she could've gotten it jumping off some high place, or missing a jump up onto something, but I never saw anything like that. She wasn't acting overtly in pain or anything, so I didn't discover the tooth was missing until Friday night, which made me feel like a bad kitty mommy.
I took her into the vet on Saturday afternoon to get her looked at for the tooth and her long-overdue shots done (as it seems my stepfather's ex-wife never took care of them). The vet thought the tooth root was still in her jaw, so she prescribed some antibiotics and asked me to bring Pearls in on Monday morning to have it removed. She kept asking me how and when it happened, and I felt worse about it every time I had to tell her I didn't know.
So
spottylogic took me back to the vet on the way to work this morning to drop off my spoiled little baby for her oral surgery. She was a good cat all the way over; she didn't even cry too much. She was obviously very scared at the vet, what with the last time she was there she was stuck with a bunch of needles, and this time she was being held by a strange man and taken away from me. I can't pick her up until after 5 p.m., since they have to knock her out. Even though it's a relatively minor procedure, I'm going to be worried about her all day.
