Edit: (8/27/06) I changed up the table a bit and added "rules" and credit for quotes at the bottom. Since I didn't ever really clearly state my stand on things. Everything's pretty loose.*shrug* (and yay for a post that isn't like all Kirika... I tried to make some more Mireille icons this time around since she was kinda neglected).

#14 is the latin from Salva Nos, y'know... the theme that's played during almost every fight scene. It translates to "Grant us peace".
#20 is a quote by Julius Caesar. "Veni, Vidi, Vici". "I came. I saw. I conquered." I felt it was an appropriate quote for Chloe. She's just that good.
#31 includes the kanji for red and black (two of the colors relied on heavily for symbolism in Noir). Also includes the romanized "Shinigami" meaning death god (a term Bleach fans will be very familiar with... but used in a variety of other animé and it is also what Noir is called in episode 7).
#38 is an allusion to a Teddy Roosevelt (an American president) quote. The original being "Speak softly and carry a big stick." I know... I should get beaten with a big stick for making all these fork jokes. I'd have used a Kirika picture to go with this one, but I was too lazy to find a good shot of Kirika (that I hadn't already used) with a fork.: p cwwitchkyobi helped give me the idea.: ) For this and #72.
#45 uses quotes from episode 7, The Black Thread of Fate, where Kirika is having a sort of flashback.
#51 is a quote from Alice in Wonderland, I believe it is the Cheshire cat who says it: "We're all mad here."
#54 is one of the translations I've seen of the End theme's title (Kirei na Kanjou). I've also seen "Pure Emotions" as a translation, but "Beautiful Emotions" sounds less awkward, at least to me.
#81 is a quote, I think (I lost my icon list where I had the quotes when my harddrive crashed), from Paradise Lost: "Yet from those flames no light, but rather darkness visible."
Rules
1. Comments are appreciated. And they don't necessarily have to be about the icons. What I mean is, you can strike up a conversation about the series the icons deal with and I'll happily respond to comments like that. Though unrelated spam is unnecessary (I would hope this would go without saying, but... you never know).
2. Credit isn't required though it's nice if people want to find out where you got the icons from.*shrug* And if you don't know the standards for crediting icons, you can ask. I'll be happy to explain.
