strange, but i found myself covering the armm elections for the past two graveyards at the expense of my usual routine of meddling with police business on a nightly basis. although the coverage, i think, is still a tad bit too 'grown-up' for me (meaning, less gun-action and police-chases, more lounging around on a frozen-ass office floors waiting for numbers to flash), i actually enjoyed the past few days. who wouldn't?
it was a historical coverage, damn it! pinoy elections will never be the same since we are finally moving towards a more "modern age" with this automated electoral process. now kleptocrats really have to step it up with their game because shaving and padding votes just got harder. hackers all over the country should rejoice. their phones will be ringing off the hook around 2010.
plus! the coverage was cool because i got to acronym-drop things like d-r-es and o-m-rs. and overcoming stressful live reporting is always welcome, and i got to hoard free food with other will-cover-for-food reporters!
plus, while loitering around palacio del gobernador over at intramuros (where the comelec headquarters is nicely situated), i stumbled upon a neat smoking area with a kick-ass old manila view. it's too cool not to shoot!
bow down to mao!
