welcome to the neighborhood

Jan 10, 2011 23:11

i started the day in the kitchen.
this block of purple cabbage was too cute to let go -
i actually put it in a foodkeeper and tucked it safely in the refrigerator.

nothing smells as clean and fresh as sliced lemons.
my favorite salad only has five ingredients:
cabbage, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper

my good deed for the day:
wrapped up and sent a late present to Esel's mom

papa and i went out yesterday
to get chocolates and cake for my brother's godfathers and godmothers.
to celebrate the birth of my brother's first daughter.
her name is alyssa.

i guess you're bound to get some good vibes back when first you send it out.
this cake is a very thoughtful present from our favorite neighbors.
they will be her playmates in waiting,
if she ever comes home to visit the philippines.

and my goal is to be the most interesting aunt she'll ever know.
someone she'll tell other people about, or better yet, someone she'll actually listen to
when she's at thate age when she just doesnt want to listen to her parents.

and today, i went back to yoga.
three months i stopped.
but it felt like i never left.
i can tell i'm going to sleep well tonight.

and before i say good night,
for the record,
i still can't get over last night's wedding,
where jacob got his ENTIRE FAMILY to dance for emma
as a surprise number at their wedding

i never thought he'd be the type.
i'm so happy for both of them. :)
they were literally all smiles last night.

i love going to weddings,
and waiting for the bride to walk down the aisle,
and checking, secretly hoping that the groom is tearing up
waiting for the first kiss
and throwing flowers outside the church.
weddings are pure joy,
and i hate to sound preachy, BUT
if only people would commit to their wedding vows
we'd have better family lives
and definitely a better philippines
