When We Were Romans
have you ever read a book that had a main character you hated with a passion?
i'm not complaining about the way it's written - from the point of view of a child, hence a sprinkling of misspelled words now and then; it's cleverly done and it must be effective writing because it evoked that much emotion from me, that i had a hard time finishing it. this is still a good read because it's got lovely bits about life in rome, which is one of the places i would love to visit one day.
