So my best friend (and my kinda sorta) called me today and didn't say hello (well he never says hello, but just starts talking, and then says this retarded retarded retarded statement.
"You know LBJ was cooler then JFK."

-sending foreign aid/human rights in Latin America
-creation of the Peace Corps
-He kept Vietnam under bay. Kennedy still did not know the policy was to pursue in Vietnam. (He had already begun to speak to his advisers about pulling out. He had announced that he was pulling out 1,000 men from Vietnam at the end of the year. Kennedy, however, left no doubt that he will see the war through until he won reelection in 1964.)
-Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
-working with Ireland
-sent troops to U of Miss., so a black man can enroll.
-sent Federal Troops to protect the Freedom Riders
-Civil Rights Act of 1964 (yep it was his idea 1st)
-Kennedy signed an Executive Order creating the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women, brining to light discrimination against women.
- Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965
-Space Program
LBJ-
-Convinced congress to pass the Civil Rights Act (which was drafted under JFK, and wouldve passed)
-nominate Thurgood Marshall (ok, I give him that)
-Great Society (like the New Frontier, which was the point of Kennedy).
Yes I do understand that LBJ had some of the worst foreign relations advisors ever and it really started with Eisenhower but Kennedy was going to pull 1,000 troops from Vietnam, and use that as a justification?
Yes, he did break racial barriers, and LBJ deserves to be credited for that, but we must that this all started with Kennedy.

Oh and the BAIL OUT BILL PAST THROUGH THE HOUSE!! No Republican support? It doesn't surprise me, but I wish some of them understood why funding the arts and the National Mall are incredibly important. (I understand why the contraceptive amendment was cut, but the National Mall?!?) Then they starting bitching about how there isnt enough money for infrastructure.So they're saying there's too much spending but not enough??? Knucklefucks!! (I really don't hate Republicans, but appreciate all public servants who are in it to serve the public, but I have a temper that could challenge Rahm's and this pushed me over the edge)
