Today I found the place where the Land meets the Sea. The perfect balance. The inbetween. I disregarded a No Tresspassing! sign or two to get there. I can see why they want to keep it secret.
Beautiful town, my beautiful town! I hiked through the forest, occasionally startled by those giant mansions that suddenly loom from the trees. But their weathered shingles and foundations smell of wood and stone, so they might as well be part of the forest. Quiet sentinals--still and calm like the trees.
My wanderings eventually directed my feet to the beach. Merely a street down from my very own house. Small rhythmic waves against the sand and sailboats dotting the horizon. Rocky outcroppings reveal seastars, crabs, and all manner of ocean treasure.
Here is the place where the thick and nurturing forests I've known since childhood meet the vast and glassy seas I've always known in my dreams.
Have you ever found The Place You Are Supposed To Be, then realized you've accidentally stumbled into it 8 or 10 years too soon?
'Here is Perfect,' I tell myself, soaking it up like a fine liquor. 'Here is Perfect, and I cannot--am not ready--to stay.'

I will be here until January 31st. Am attempting a MI Thanksgiving extravaganza! (But no promises.)
