"The college Republicans at Roger Williams University in Bristol Rhode Island have come under fire for a recent edition of their monthly newsletter in which they write many scathing articles on homosexuality, accompanied by doctored photos and captions. Among these photos and captions are, - a picture of a homeless beggar holding a sign saying "Will Sodomize for food" - A copy of the FDA food pyramid with a caption claiming that Homosexuals and pedophiles were upset that anus and penis weren't included
The inspiration for their tirade was an appearance on campus by Judy Sheppard, mother of the slain Mathew Sheppard who was beaten to death a few years ago and tied to a fence in Wyoming. Sheppard was invited to speak at the University's new student orientation this year. The College Republicans thought this was anotehr example of "liberal indoctrination", and figured the best way to counter this would be to include, among other things (as mentioned above), an account of a gay rape in their next newsletter, and a series of editorials criticizing Judy Sheppard as intolerant.
Upon recieving complaints, and seeing the publication for himself, the University President sent out an email to the whole school and ordered that no more school funding be given to the printing of the group's newsletter until the issue is resolved. "
