I'm back in the city for a while. My past week has been divine. I did a lot of socializing and chilling out and it was a perfect mixture.

Friday night Colleen (lewy) came over and we decided to go out to a party. There were a bunch of people there that are graduating this year and then a bunch of us older people, so it was a good mixture. It was outside. Colleen and I had flip flops on and I was wearing sparkly jewelry. We didn't look dressed for the party, but we were plenty warm enough. Plus we looked good!! (that's a joke). Remember a while back I told you about Joel, a guy in grade 12 who always asks me to sleep with him? Well it never fails, he was there and he asked to again. Of course I said no. He's such and odd duck. He just doesn't get it, that is no way to get the girl. "hey Selby, let's go have sex." Ummmmmmmmmm, NO!! Anyway, Greg was there, he has this huge crush on Colleen and he told us to go to Karaoke the next night in Millet (a wicked small town 10 minutes away) I told him I'd go if I could and if Colleen was going. He told me he'd call me Saturday.

So Saturday rolls around. Erin, Dad and I go to the city to watch a movie. We saw Bend It Like Beckham. Erin and I have seen it before, but we both loved it so we saw it again with my daddy. It was good times. I was going to stay in Saturday and hang out with the family, but Greg called me and forced me and Colleen to go to Karaoke. Okay he didn't so much force as encourage, and we decided to go. It proved to be an awesome time! Colleen and I sang "I Love Rock n Roll" and "Goodbye Earl". I had fun because the people there are really good people and the kind of people I have fun with. Carefree for the night, ready to have a good time. Colleen slept over again.

Today we celebrated Father's Day because we couldn't last weekend. It was the most wonderful father's Day we've done in a long time. Here's how it went. Erin and I got up this morning and we went downstairs and made breakfast, scrambled eggs and toast. Yum yum. We had a wonderful, easy going breakfast and gave him his presents. We got him a new toaster, the kind that you can see yourself in!!! And an olive dish and some jam. Mom got him a log cabin magazine. We lazed around for a while, watched a movie and then we got ready to come back to the city. On the way here we stopped at our land. We have a little cabin on it. It's very small, one room and a loft. We don't have power out there and it's heated by a wood burner. We started a fire and we all just sat around looking out the window at the rain steadily falling and we read our books. I had a little nap. It was so comforting to hear my parents talking in the back ground and to have Erin right beside me. We then came up to the city and got some chicken for supper and ate some comfort food on this perfectly rainy day. I felt so happy as a family today and so close, it was pretty great.

May I explain some feelings I've been having lately? They are a bit weird, I won't lie to you. I've been getting this insane maternal instinct. I want to start my family now, right now. I want to get married and have babies. But not only that, but I've been thinking about the future a lot too. My family was sitting around the table playing crib after supper the other night and my dad was talking in his Donald Duck voice and I said, "crazy, this is what we're going to be telling our children about one day." We all just laughed because of the ridiculousness of it all, Dad talking Donald Duck and what not. We were laughing pretty hard and then some sort of emotion hit me and I almost started crying out of happiness. I love my family so much and I am so lucky to have them. We are so close and so happy and just as insane as each other. That happened again today at the cabin when mom and dad were talking about their dream house they are going to build on the land eventually. Erin sitting beside me reading and me reading, warming up by the fire and looking out at the beauty of the world and the greeness of it all. How freaking lucky am I?? My family has just been so important to me lately. Today I was also in this mood where I felt like I was a kid again. I was playing at the fire, singing, humming and we went for a walk and I kept thinking of all the cool games I could play on the land and the cool hiding spots and everything. It's just been weird and slightly emotional for some reason, not sure why.

This has proved to be pretty long, so I should be off. I'm going to leave you with a couple pictures from last weekend at History Road. They are pretty fun so
