Nah, nothing ever puts a really hardcore shipper down permanently. Worse than vampires that way. And that's fine, really. You like the pairing you like, and lord knows there's a few I'm attached to in other shows that will never, ever happen. (Die-hard Rock Lee/Sakura fan. Dammit...)
But as for this show, I'm personally just so DELIGHTED to finally see a relationship between a male and female lead that ISN'T sexual/romantic. It's like... Sometimes it seems like a sexual relationship is the only kind of relationship Hollywood thinks men and women can have. It gets really frustrating. Male/female friendships on television and in film inevitably become romantic, or get tinged with UST. (Shakes fist in general direction of V for Vendetta movie.)
So a relationship like the one WW and MM have, boss and employee, mentor and student, brother and sister, parent and child, comrades in arms, all of that WITHOUT being boyfriend and girlfriend, it's... really special, for me.
Plus, it helps that I like Tyler, and I think MM and Lacey are completely ADORABLE together. :-)
