so apparently some scientists from MIT/Harvard have discovered a way to create heat using nothing but water, and it makes 1000 times more heat than traditional sources (i.e. oil). at 1.2 cents per killowatt vs 5 for oil and 6 for nuclear, its much cheaper too. read the story here.

The really amazing thing is that the techonology used in this actually defies some laws of quantum mechanics, a theory which has been held as a basic truth for almost a century. Not just any law, though, because they figured out a way to force an electron to get closer than the first energy level in a hydrogen adom, which according to quantum mechanics, is impossible. i mean, this is one of those laws that when they teach you quantum, in bold leters on the front of the manual (if they were to make one, that is) would be "ELECTRONS CAN ONLY BE FIXED DISTANCES FROM THE NUCLEOUS".

breaking such a law, rather, redefining and upheaving such a law of quantum mechanices is sort of like...well imagine some crazy haird, sleep deprived mad scientist running out of a physics lab screaming "GRAVITY!! IT DOESN'T EXIST!!" and then suddenly everything started floating. it is quite amazing, but, it is still under heavy critisism.

in case you are wondering, essentialy what this means is a) decreasing the dependancy for oil a million fold and b) possibly the long sought secret of cold fusion.

thats right COLD FUSION, looks like my theory with the ice chest and duct tape involving lots of shaking isn't the correct answer after all. but, seriously, cold fusion? within the next 10 years? are theys for-real? i don't think all of you realize age that will be with such a discovery. this is HUGE. this is bigger thant he atom bomb. this is one of, if not the biggest technological breakthrough that could benefit man in a posative way. so big, that i am trying to not get my hopes up, because, this means life will change SO FAST in the next 10 years. not just for americans, but the world. a cheap, reliable, waist-free way of producing massive amounts of energy. civilization will finaly spread to the entire world, poverty could be no more, the world may finally be connected in such a way that only orsen wells could dream.

but, in other news, i may be getting a job working for fighterops.com

and this time i actually made it past the interview stage. they seemed to be really interested in me working with them. essentialy they want me to design a newtonian physics engine for them that will account for all the global variables and collision factors.

sorry, hold on...

*grabs towel and cleans up*

I AM BEING HIRED BY A BIG COMPANY TO DESIGN A PHYISCS ENGINE FOR A FLIGHT SIMULATOR!!!!!!!

goddamnit....

*grabs towel again*

this...this is my dream. this is what im going to school for. computer science and physics. am i dreaming? i am in statesboro right now.....

anyway - more on that once i get my contract. they told me i would be their "saving grace", because they guy that im replacing sucks and set them back like 3 or 4 months, and it owuld be my job to bring them back up to speed. which means i would be payed more. like, a lot more. like...i told them i dunno if i can handle it, like im not sure if im ready for such responsability/extremly difficult programing. i've never done something on this scale before. but they said they were still interested. so who knows...

anyway - back to bed, i suppose. going back to clemson tomorrow like it's my job.
