Sophia had to go to court. So, she went through her closet to find the perfect outfit. She settled on a nice gray skirt suit.
She opened one of her drawers and pulled out a pair of nylon thigh highs. She laid the suit on the bed and then pulled out a black lace garter belt. Sophia made sure everything was snug before she slipped on the skirt and zipped it on the side.
She was in a bit of a hurry so she pulled her hair into a neat ponytail, grabbed her stuff and headed out the door.
An hour later as she was sitting on the stand describing her involvement in a homicide investigation, she had gotten to the part about coming up to the house when she felt a tear appear and slowly make its way down towards her ankle.
As she got off the stand, since she was done for the day, she decided to grab a cup of coffee at the nearby coffee shop.
She bought a newspaper and a mug of coffee because it was her day off, and she could sit out on one of the umbrella tables outside and enjoy the warmth of the day. She had almost sat down when a rookie cop sitting at the next table ran right into her as his radio went off.
The rookie’s partner mouthed “I’m sorry he’s a klutz” to her as he walked by.
Sophia went into the coffee shop bathroom, and took off her jacket. She checked it for coffee splashes but didn’t see any. She then took off her shirt, and noticed a huge spot in the middle. She took off the shirt, and dabbed it with a wet paper towel. As she is trying the wet spot under the bathroom dryer, her cell phone rings.
She glances at it, it is a detective she is working on a case with. She puts her shirt back on quickly. The detective has a lead on a suspect, and wants to know if she wants to be there when they take him down. He gives her the address and since it is about a mile away, she says she will meet him there.
They capture the guy, and Sophia interviews him. He confesses. And he is taken to jail.
While she is at the station, she decides to catch up on a few of her cases.
Sophia takes a few minutes off, and drives home to change into some clean clothes.
She then is called again. So, she heads back to the station. After talking with Jim Brass about a couple cases they have been paired up for, she goes to the break room to pour herself a cup of coffee, and to get something from the vending machine.
Just as she is about to take a first sip of the coffee, Nick stokes literally runs into her when he trips on a box someone had left on the floor.
The coffee mug flies out of her hands, spilling coffee over her shoes and the floor.
“I’m so sorry.” Nick says, reaching nearby to grab some paper towels.
“It’s okay. I got it.” She says taking the paper towels away from him, as his pager goes off. She bends down and begins to mop up the mess, and she hears Nick leave.
Another figure bends down, and begins to help her clean up the mess on the floor. She looks up, to see who it is. “You don’t have to help, I have it.”
He gives her a warm smile. “It’s okay, I want to help. You look like you’ve had a rough day.” Greg Sanders says, taking the paper towels out of her hand, and finishing the job.
“It’s been a bit annoying.”
“That’s got to suck on your day off.” Greg finished cleaning up, and tossed all the wet paper towels in the trash. “Is there anything I can do to make it better?”
Sophia chuckled. “Only if you know a place where I can get some good coffee that won’t get spilled and a really good shoulder massage.”
Greg smiled. “I know just the place, and they open in a few minutes. Just after I go do something”
