John Grant woke with a start, and grabbed his gun as he heard someone break into his hotel room. He held the gun waiting for the door to completely open, his finger on the trigger ready to fire if need be. (He hoped not though, he wasn’t in the mood to kill someone in his hotel room.)
A blond woman with piercing eyes and wearing a black skirt and white shirt came in. She held up her hands as she saw the gun. “Whoa, big boy! I wouldn’t have accepted your extra key if I knew you were going to turn your gun on me.”
John put the gun back in its leather holster. “Sorry, Sam, I guess I am a little jumpy.”
She sat down next to him on the bed, and patted his knee. “I think this case is making everyone a little jumpy.”
John nodded, and leaned to kiss Sam on the lips.
