For Discussion 1 - Photos for Experiment

Jun 17, 2010 14:38

These photos are for my Discussion 1 assignment.

A picture is worth a thousand words. To check the validity of this cliche' I would use a series of photographs and ask the participants to write down what they think the stories behind each photograph. I have chosen four photographs to use.

Hand-held self portrait. No "real" story.

Photo that may have the viewer assuming something is going on given the body language of the girl in the photo. In reality, she was just talking when I took the picture. No story.

Photo that looks like it may not have a story but really does - just moved into our new apartment after having to leave our former apartment. Our home had been broken into twice, but with a total of four breaking and entering attempts. The second time (but not the last time they tried) they broke in they damaged one of the two exits of our loft so badly that our door could not shut properly leaving our home and pets open to more theft. This photo shows my feet resting on a table on my new front porch next to a big pot of flowers my friend gave me to help me relax and find peace in my new and much safer surroundings.

My Lai Massacre - There is obviously a story here about these bodies lying on the road. "On March 16, 1968 the angry and frustrated men of Charlie Company, 11th Brigade, Americal Division entered the village of My Lai. "This is what you've been waiting for -- search and destroy -- and you've got it," said their superior officers. A short time later the killing began."
