Three 'c's and a 'k'. Well, two if you count my name.

Highlights of the day:

#1

This is what I hear a student tell me first thing in the morning:

"The Chinese have put lasers in lollipops and the China men are trying to KILL us!"

(She actually said "razors", and was more up on news than I am.)

#2

A student runs up to me in the classroom, panting. Holds a book up to me, and points and reads the words, "one, two, three."
I think it was the contrast of his looking all out of sorts, only to show me he could read some words, without any sort of preamble. Maybe you had to see him.

But there is something when a student who couldn't read discovers that they now can. Of course, then you try to work with someone who can't remember what three words you just worked with him on, even when you went over it with him three or four times exactly twenty seconds ago.

I guess I would count a valentine cake that a student brought in as #3.

But, besides that, the day was nowhere near worth it.
V. day is a day from the depths of hell.
Especially when you mix candy, cake, cards and kids.
And you work through lunch and find out you don't have your break because the specials teacher had an emergency.

I just felt completely exhausted, and that the kids had nothing to show for the day except for a sugar rush.
And I was disappointed to see that some of the teachers had shared some really cute valentine ideas, and I had somehow been overlooked. And thus felt that I had not really done anything worthwhile with them.
Not at all going to be ready for Friday.
And yard-sale on Saturday? Might even make fifty-cents after eight hours. Yee-haw.
