•Today I was driving on Lincoln Way and I looked over where at the complex where Batman Sayers Abstract Co. is, and I'm pretty sure I didn't see it. Is it gone? I hope not.
•I also saw the heroic new Veterans Memorial:
which is inscribed "To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace", one of the worst pieces of advice in human history. Ugly, ugly, ugly--if there is going to be ridiculous propaganda in my town I don't want it to be such an eyesore.
•I had a three minute phone conversation with Joe's mom today. I called to see if Joe was there (he was not) and made the mistake of telling her that I saw her driving out of the Fareway parking lot today. She asked why I didn't follow her home and unpack her groceries. I think I told her "not sure" but I can think of at least 47 good reasons why I didn't do that.
