Man I hate jobs. Not only did the only real job I've ever had suck, but I am incapable of becoming employed. Yesterday I got an expected letter in the mail from Kingland Systems saying, in a few more words, 'no'. This came as no surprise--for my interview I put my hair in a supposedly professional but mostly gay-looking ponytail and responded to an idiotic question about uses for paperclips with a nonsensical proposal to stage a play with the cast made up of paperclips ("Who is this guy?" Kingland honcho Dave Stock surely wondered). I did learn, however, that Kingland is currently working on a nefarious-sounding project called the Global Master File, though it's still unclear what exactly they do there.
My current attempt to become a delivery driver at Flowerama will fail because the help wanted ad mentioned the driver ought to have a "neat appearance". Also I wonder if you need a special kind of driver's license for it. Pizza delivery is a field I am also looking into.

The highlights of my summer have been three-fold:
•I now slap Noah in the face whenever he acts a fool, but he has learned to pull back whenever he says something stupid
•I saw "Caché" at the otherwise empty Varsity. It was excellent (I'm pretty sure the actually kill a rooster in one scene) but fucked-up. It struck me that if there is ever a Thom Yorke-directed movie, it will closely resemble this one
•Working on Joe and Colin's canoe makes me feel like a man, even if I have trouble handling the ax
