while on the topic of my obnoxious subject, my parents and i had a "what should we do for christmas?" talk.
normally, it would be the same as every year, becuase, that's what tradition means. but this year christmas falls on a sunday and everyone knows that my dad just can't skip church becuase it's on an inconvenient day. that'd be just plain hypocritical.
but this year we're doing something really cool. our chruch is having a dinner after the service for people who don't really have families. this way they can be with their friends from church and not be so lonely on christmas. i think ti's a great idea. so my family and the other pastor's family are going to help out and then eat there. the next day we're going to have actual christmas (with presents and a big breakfast/ dinner) and mark and nessie and eli are coming over at night. i'm actually really excited about this. i think it's something that i would like to continue with my family. volunteering on christmas morning and then postponing the gifts until the next day.
also, my family and i are continuing the tradition by drinking rum with everything we can (once the eggnog runs out)
brilliant.
last year we discovered that hot buttered rum is nasty, but rum and coffee is a nice blend.
so during dinner dad said, "well, i guess i'll have to buy more rum" becuase our handle from last year is almost gone. LOL!
(this is only funny if you've seen my parents.)
