Oh, poor anguished Sam...! We didn't get near enough of Sam's experiences and thoughts in S9, and this feels so true to how he must have felt. Love the descriptions at the beginning of how the aborted trials affected Sam physically - so vivid - and his memories of killing Kevin, too.

Thank you. I hadn't really thought about this interval of time until yesterday, beyond being cross with Dean about how he just walks off at the end of 'Road Trip' and leaves Sam to deal with what has happened - and then Cas obviously leaves as well - and you have that moment in Sharp Teeth where he tells Dean he's coming from 'New Mexico' so yeah I was just thinking about what he must have got up to all alone and sad. I'm glad you thought it felt right!

Thanks so much for the lovely comment! Sam does tend to internalise things, I agree - but in this situation he doesn't have much choice, that's what I find sad about it. Dean leaves him alone when he's feeling really super low. Poor Sam.

Thanks! I have been thinking that I could have definitely made this longer - I just wanted to get the idea down while I still had it but, yeah, Sam's time in the desert could definitely have made a longer fic I think
