in case you didnt know because you live under a rock, like shitty music and dislike music that is good for the ears or are a little baby the original trio of washingtonians from issaquah, pronounced is-a-kwah (I've been there!), have a new album coming out in march of this year with three new band members and a major label to boot. i think this is their third major label release and im not sure how long the other three jackoffs have been in the band. whatever the case may be a couple weeks ago i heard the new single called dashboard. lets just say that this band at one time was my heart and soul. i didnt go a day without listening to at least one song by them starting from my freshman year in high school. I BOUGHT every single one of their albums. i even managed to get a hold of gnfpwlbn a month before it was released and still bought it when it came out. this band seriously impressed the hell out of me. their rawness, their ability to go on and on without being boring or stale or repetitive was something i admired and aspired to. Perfect for all occasions no occasion was without a little modest mouse. Driving while on modest mouse is one of the most beautiful things jah has blessed us with. i guess things started to change when i heard one of their songs on a commercial first for a beer. Then on no less than a motha fuggin mini van commercial. it was sad to say the least. so i was stoked to hear that they have a new album coming out since it has been almost three years since gnfpwhbn was released. when i first heard the song dashboard i was not pleased and i didnt even listen to it all the way through. it sounded too produced too poppy too normal which to me are all the qualities that separated MM from all those other bands you hear like a broken record on the radio everyday. it lacked the raw emotion and feeling of a band making music they loved not for money not for their record label not for fame but because they were musicians who cared about making truly good music. i may be exaggerating a bit and maybe they do still feel the same way about their music as they did when they started way back in history but it doesnt feel like that to me. I am anxious to purchase the new cd when it comes out to find out how good they still are. having said this after two weeks of hearing dashboard i have to say it has grown on me. maybe ive become a little less severe towards the bands change but even still liking it it is not the same. If this is the MM that was presented to me when i was a freshman i doubt i would have the same devotion and fond memories i will forever cherish. "Pull the scabs off of regrets we havent learned to eat our conscious yet" wow that is so fucking fitting if you feel like MM has sold out.
