I just saw the most amazing movie.
Blood Diamond The acting, direction, cinematography, and score were amazing. Yes, it had a Hollywood gleam - most notable in the existence of Jennifer Connelly's character. But she is a strong actress who rose above some silly lines, and the character (even if it does feel a little like the obligatory gorgeous woman) is a fully three-dimensional person. The message may be a little dolled up - but its character study and ties to recent world history make it palatable as more than simple advocacy-entertainment. It had a slightly "Hollywood" ending that maybe went further then it needed to, but it didn't detract from the overall film.
And Leonardo DiCaprio may have given the performance of his life.
You should go see this movie.
