My grandfather died last Sunday, today I am flying back to Oklahoma for his memorial service. I'll be back Monday evening.
My grandfather was a really great guy. Some of my favorite memories of him - letting me and my cousin Nicole help clean the fish pond, making really amazingly good bread, letting me rub his hair - he had the softest short hair, at around 4 I was just fascinated by it. Even after his short term memory was pretty much gone, he frequently told my grandmother he loved her - it was the thing you heard him say most often. He was 89.
I'm so very thankful for the time I had with him.
