yue_ix prompted me with Angel/Katie, summer days, hiding together after being caught by the rain.
Disclaimer: Nothing but lies, never happened!

It's been hot and humid the whole day, the kind of air that weighs down on you and causes sweat to break out with every lazy movement.
The logical course of action would be to retreat to the hotel room, turn on the air conditioner and wait until the tension breaks in a relieving thunderstorm.

Unfortunately, this course of action does not go along well with a full shooting schedule. That's why Katie and Angel spend their early afternoon running around the village set, nestled on the flank of the castle, using up ridiculous amounts of water to drink and make up to mat the sweaty shine on their faces.

Jeremy is giving his best to keep them all motivated. “Let's get this done as fast as possible, folks. I know we're all longing for grey skies and drizzle right now, but let's not allow the French summer to bring us to our knees.”

“Sweat and think of England,” Angel comments drily, but with an amused twinkle in her eyes and Katie tries to hide her giggle behind a hand.

As evening draws near, the sky turns darker and darker and when finally wind picks up and blows the straw they use to cover the asphalt road up and around their feet, Jeremy sees himself forced to call it a day.

“Thank God,” Katie sighs and shrugs off Morgana's heavy fur stole, which leaves her in one of the flimsier nightgowns. Angel does her best not to stare and instead busies herself with putting the props she used back on their places.

“Let's see if we can grab something cold to drink up at the trailers?” she suggests, fervently hoping that Bradley and Colin didn't get there first, then again, they're shooting inside today, so it's unlikely the boys suffer as much as they do behind the thick walls.

“Yeah, all right,” Katie agrees and they gather their skirts and set off up the hill. The wind is really heavy now as they walk along the outer walls of the castle on the now very familiar paths and up stairs.

They're nearing the first gate, from which the road they use to shoot people arriving or departing from Camelot extends, when the first heavy drop hits Angel's bare underarm.

Finally, she thinks, but then the clouds almost literally burst and it's pouring with an intensity that has their hair and clothes drenched in no time.
Katie gives a little shriek beside her, and grabs for Angel's arm to drag her with her as she starts to run.

It's not easy what with the soaked skirts clinging to their legs and water getting into their eyes, but Angel can't help the smile that breaks out on her face, because after the heated afternoon this feels absolutely wonderful.
She lets herself be led through the gate and then not up the hill towards the trailers, but in the direction of the castle.

They pass the second gate with the pay booth and Angel wants to object as Katie pulls her out from under the shelter again, but Katie looks back at her with a giddy smile, wet hair sticking wildly to her face and the nightgown that doesn't hide very much any longer, and Angel can't do anything but follow her past the grass on which they shoot the knights' drills and towards the drawbridge.

They run through the third gate and Angel thinks they're going to seek shelter in the courtyard, under the arcades or in the gift shop, but before they even reach the bridge Katie tugs at her wrist again, draws Angel with her to the side and into one of the small nooks that Angel has never quite noticed before, and pulls her down onto a little stone bench there.

They're both breathing heavily, drenched to the skin, but also laughing a little hysterically, but mostly just happy. Angel feels a little dizzy, probably from the adrenaline coursing through her body, she thinks.

Katie is watching her, bright and beautiful even with her hair clinging to her face and shoulders like that, and Angel suddenly can't resist, shifts her hand carefully where it lies between them to take Katie's in hers, intertwining their fingers. She never takes her gaze off Katie, looks intently for any sign that she is taking this too far, that this isn't what Katie wants, and yes, she does stop her exhilarated laughter, but it's replaced by a warm smile that is all Katie, doesn't quite seem to fit in with Morgana's costume.

It's encouraging and so much more, and before Angel realises what she's doing she's outstretched her other hand, brushes wet strands from Katie's face, fingers sliding softly over her wet cheek, before she cups it in her hand.

She freezes for a moment -- uncertain about taking this last step, even though something inside of her pulls her forward, towards Katie and the warmth radiating off her --, just looks at the drops of water that have gathered in her eyebrows, her lashes, waiting for a cue.
And then it's Katie who closes the last bit of distance, who catches her mouth in a kiss that's as hot and sweet as a summer's day, and at the same time as vehement and urgent as the storm they're hiding from, and Angel thinks, yes, this.

There's laughter again, hot breaths on chilled skin, as they draw apart, familiar and elated, and they stay right there in their little intimate hide-out, the world around them shrouded by a veil of rain, hoping that it won't stop just yet with every small, exploring touch, every kiss.
