The Leadership Retreat was awesome and I had a good time!
We got up early on Saturday morning and left at 8:30ish. Once we got to camp, we went right to the ropes course and started doing team building exercises. After a brief lunch, we got to go to the low ropes course and work a whole bunch of elements. Since I was skinny, light weight, and tall, I was "volunteered" for a lot of the ones that involved lifting people up to high places. I actually didn't mind being volunteered and I trusted everyone in the group to hold on to me tight. The final element was to scale a giant 12 foot wall. I was literally pushed/pulled up the wall and I made it! It was a little scary and I was probably very close to falling and getting hurt at some points...but I made it!
On Saturday night, we had a yummy dinner and then shared personal stories and got to know each other better. After that, a few of us stayed up for a while playing "Would you rather..." except we didn't play the game we just read the question cards. :-P The game got sort of crazy since the cards were a little intense (gross and sometimes quite raunchy) so we called it quits and went to bed.
On Sunday, we had a quick breakfast and then discussed our views on leadership elements by playing a hot/cold game. The discussion got pretty intense at points and I started to get frustrated, but then we broke for a while so I had a chance to rest. We talked about the Nibble Theory book we had read and then set our goals for the Summer, wrote them down, and then shared them. After that we had lunch, packed up and came home.
I spent most of the night hanging out with John and Jonathon and helping John set up his new HR apartment.
OK...time for bed now. I have my first day of work as a Preview Assistant tomorrow. :) Later...
