I'm trying to catch Ryan's gaze. Wanting him to sit on my other side. I know there is something I should say to him. The words fleet through my mind, and then I am left blank

I start to answer Alexis, but the words die in my throat when I see Aurelio take up the seat on the other side of Cassie.

"Hey," I say to him, slowly.

"Um. Hey Aurelio. Why don't you go switch seats with Ryan." I command through gritted teeth.

"Ew. then I'd have to sit by Alexis, wouldn't I?" I snigger, like Cassie a moron and can't understand this possible doom, "Anyway. You get to be in an Aurelio-Caden sandwich!"

Aurelio tears Caden's attention away from me, something I am used to. I look cautiously to Ethan and he gives me the smallest of smiles. I direct my gaze to Ryan, who is still standing awkwardly.

I make a vague attempt not to glare in frustration over the whole seating arrangement, but I don't know if it works.

"Don't worry about it, Cass," I finally say, shortly. "I'll just sit next to Caden."

And I take up the seat between him and Alexis, smiling in a stiff and rictus way at both of them.

Oh, this will be fun.

Awkwardly, I try to smile at Ryan while silently wishing for some form of conversation to divert the attention from the overall uncomfortable nature of the situation.

"How's it going, Ryan?" I want to take his attention away from the fact that my brother is practically flirting with his girlfriend, or at least let him know that I realize he's pissed about it.

"It's great," I say sarcastically. "Never better. You?"
