The Marina Alphabetacy: Transformed - Chapter 1 (Part 1)

Aug 16, 2010 03:44

Hey guys! Welcome back to The Marina Alphabetacy: Transformed, this chapter has been released pretty quickly because I’ve enjoyed playing and it’s summer, but when September comes, the updates won’t be as fast as this.

Last time, Adrianna got a strange call from a woman who claimed to have slept with her husband and gotten pregnant with his baby, although she’d had a miscarriage. Adrianna went to meet this woman and an argument ensured, in which Adrianna got pushed down a strange looking hole. She emerged in a new town, where she was told by two strangers that she had been given a new chance at her life and at her legacy attempt. They informed her that she had been summoned her by them and that there was no way back to her old life.

------

The first few days were the worst. Adrianna tried to clear her mind of the thoughts of her husband and children back home, but it was impossible. She kept seeing flashes of herself, falling down into blackness. She lay in the sun for hours, but she still felt cold inside.

People walked past the house, but she ignored them. She didn’t want to talk to anyone, she just wanted to go home.

She tried to eat, but she wasn’t hungry. On multiple occasions, Adrianna felt starved so she’d rush to make herself something to eat and by the time it was ready, she would feel sick once more.

Although there was a bed in the house, Adrianna found the sofa to bed more comfortable, not that it mattered anyway. Adrianna couldn’t sleep, and when she did she was awoken by nightmares of falling.

One morning, about a week after Adrianna arrived, she went outside to the garbage bin. As she was about to walk back in, the postman arrived.

“Hey” she shouted to Adrianna, smiling.

Adrianna turned round and forced a smile, trying to be polite.

“Are you new here?” the postman asked, walking closer to Adrianna.

Adrianna walked down the drive and to the mailbox, still forcing her smile.

“Hi, I’m Adrianna” she replied, holding out her hand. “I moved in last week”.

The postman smiled back at her and shook her hand. “Hi Adrianna, I’m Dagmar” she replied.

There was a pause in which both women tried to think of something to say to the other.

“How come I've got post already?” Adrianna asked. “I don’t know anyone here yet”

Dagmar laughed. “Well, you’ve got bill already it seems” she replied.

“Bills?” Adrianna exclaimed, looking very surprised.

“I’m afraid so” Dagmar said, laughing slightly.

“Well, I better go inside” Adrianna said, still looking slightly surprised.

“Oh ok” Dagmar replied. “It was nice meeting you Adrianna” she said, before walking along the road and towards the next house.

“You too” Adrianna muttered as she walked back inside the house.

After returning inside the house, Adrianna picked up the morning paper, which was laying on the table. She pulled it open to the jobs section and scanned the page to see if anything appealed to her. After several minutes, Adrianna got up and carried the paper to the phone and dialled the number under one of the advertisements. In a matter of minutes, Adriana was the newest Aerobics Instructor in town.

-------

Later that day, a woman walked to the front door of Adrianna’s house. She had a shopping bag under her arm and was twiddling her other hand nervously. She hadn’t wanted to come her in the first place, but Heather had forced her. As she waited for someone to answer, she considered quickly walking away and not coming back, then the door opened.

Adrianna stepped out of then door and saw a woman standing at the door, with a packed shopping bag under her arm. The woman smiled at her nervously as she walked outside.

“Hey” Adrianna greeted, confused as to why this woman was outside her house.

“Hi” the woman replied.

“Sorry, but who are you?” Adrianna asked after an awkward moment of silence.

The woman laughed nervously. “Heather sent me” she replied, hoping that this would explain it all. “I’m Artemis by the way” she added, smiling.

Adrianna couldn’t help but smile. Heather had sent this woman as she had thought that she would make a good spouse for Adrianna, but Adrianna wasn’t into girls. Although, she thought, Artemis was beautiful and there was something about her. She dismissed this thought quickly, telling herself that she was straight and therefore she couldn’t fancy Artemis.

“Hi Artemis” she replied.

There was another pause of silence. Both girls looked down and fidgeted, not knowing what to say next.

“Do you want to come inside?” Adrianna finally asked.

“Sure” Artemis replied, smiling.

Adrianna led Artemis into the small, cramped kitchen and motioned for her to place her bag on the counter and then through to the living room.

“Just find a seat” she said in a raised voice. “I’ll try and find us a drink” she added.

“I brought some wine round” Artemis called. “It’s in the bag”

After pouring them both a glass of wine, Adrianna joined Artemis at the table and they began to talk. Soon, the awkward stage was over and both of them became more confident in each others presence.

Their discussions soon moved to the couch and as the wine flowed, the time passed and soon it was time for Artemis to leave.

As Artemis gathered her things, Adrianna cleared away the wine glasses and went to the sink, where she began to wash them. As she thought back to the events of today and how she was so glad that Heather had introduced her to Artemis. She loved Artemis’ company and even though she had only met her today, she felt a strong connection with her.

“I better be off then” Artemis said from behind Adrianna.

Adrianna turned around and opened her arms to hug Artemis and the two woman embraced. As Artemis’ arms wrapped around Adrianna, she felt a warm spread across her chest. She suddenly felt lighter somehow and, for the first time since arriving here, Adrianna felt happy.

As Adrianna pulled out of the embrace to say goodbye to Artemis, she felt a hand wrap around her neck and push her forward slightly. Before she knew what was happening, Adrianna felt Artemis’ lips touch hers. It was like an shock passed through Adrianna’s lips and shot into her chest. The warmth from her chest shot around her body and Adrianna could feel her heart pounding. Artemis turned her head slightly and slid her other hand around Adrianna’s waist, pulling her even closer.

After a few seconds of kissing, Adrianna suddenly pulled herself away from Artemis and looked confused and shocked.

“What’s the matter?” Artemis said, sounding a little out of breath.

“I’m really sorry” Adrianna replied, slowly. “That was a mistake, I didn’t expect you to do that. I’m straight” she explained.

Artemis’ face twisted into a saddened expression and she looked at Adrianna. She looked at the floor uncomfortably and began to rub her hands together nervously.

“Heather said you were gay?” Artemis muttered.

Adrianna shook her head slowly, although she didn’t want Artemis getting the wrong idea, it killed her to see her this upset.

The kiss was a mistake, Adrianna told herself, She had never had feelings for another woman like that before and she’d had too much to drink.

“I’m really sorry” Adrianna replied apologetically.

Artemis nodded and walked out of the house, leaving her shopping behind. As she reached the path, she sped her walking up, not wanting Adrianna to see her crying.

------

“YOU KISSED?!” Heather exclaimed excitedly the next day.

“Yes” Adrianna replied, looking glum.

“What’s the matter?”

Adrianna’s answer was drowned out by the sounds of Drizzle’s squeals as she jumped up and down on the sofa.

“Shut up Drizzle” Heather snapped.

“I’m not gay Heather, I don’t know how many times you want me to tell you” Adrianna repeated.

“Right” Heather replied slowly and Adrianna knew that she didn’t believe her. “So, you didn’t feel anything when you kissed?” Heather asked, curiously.

Adrianna paused for a moment. Thinking back to the kiss made the warmth return slightly, tingling Adrianna’s chest. She had felt something when they had kissed, but that must of been the wine.

“No” she replied, uncertainly.

“Are you sure?” Heather replied, still not believing a word Adrianna said.

“Y.. Yes” Adrianna stuttered.

Heather laughed. "Right …. Well, I’d better go!” she said. “My back is killing and I need some rest”

“Ok” Adrianna said, sadly. Although Heather wasn’t the best company, Adrianna had felt lonely after Artemis’ departure and she wished for someone to talk to.

“Bye!” Heather called from the front door.

Adrianna muttered a goodbye and walked back to the lounge, spotting something, she quickly ran back to the front door and flung it open.

“Heather!” She called out. “You forgot Drizzle!”

Heather turned around and smiled. “No I didn’t!” she called back. “She’s staying at yours tonight! Me and Chip need a break! Bye”

Adrianna opened her mouth to argue, but Heather had already gone.

Drizzle was an extremely energetic child. After spending hours jumping on the sofa and running around the house, Adrianna finally managed to get her changed into her pyjamas. After finishing her dinner, Drizzle ran outside and began to play with her jump rope, squealing in delight at several occasions.

After spending an hour or two outside, Drizzle began to finally feel tired. Adrianna finally managed to settle her down enough to read her a book, but Drizzle’s eyes began to close as the story went on and, by the end, she was barely awake.

After tucking Drizzle up in bed, Adrianna couldn’t help but smile. Looking after Drizzle had reminded her of her own daughter, back in her old life. She missed Amy terribly and wished that she could see her again. One day, when the time was right, Adrianna would have liked to have more children as she enjoyed taking care of them.

As Adrianna settled down on the sofa for the night, she began to think about family and before she knew it, she fell fast asleep for the first time in what seemed like years.

“Aunty Ade! Aunty Ade!” Drizzle shouted, early the next morning. “I need to get ready for school!” she added.

A few hours later and Adrianna was waving goodbye to Drizzle, feeling very sad to see her leave. Whilst Drizzle was staying, Adrianna realised that she really wanted to start a family here and before she did anything, she needed to sort out her romance issues.
