It was an unfamiliar feeling, this being truly happy for Archie. Content he knew. Pleased, even. But this... it was like Claire was bringing out a new side of him. He fought hard not to show it in public, not yet. The towns people were still getting used to the fact that there was a stranger living in their midst, a stranger who could find out their secret at any time. The fact that Archie was... well, whatever he was to Claire wouldn't necessarily go down well.
But in private, he was happy. Claire was spending time with him while looking for a place to live for herself, and working with his patients was also going well. Tonight was a night that Claire had promised though. Baking cupcakes. Her idea, but Archie liked it. He loved baking, and a chance to do that with Claire? Well, a rare opportunity.
Pongo just looked at him as he prepared the kitchen, waiting for Claire to arrive. He was used to his master's flusterings.
