Jan, I love the lyrics of that song. And, I love that it affects you every time. I think that's the *real* purpose of the Cantata - to affect people. It's about the beauty of the gift of singing, too, but the strength of the words is so much bigger. Thank you for sharing that.
Your description about money and all the teens cracked me up. :) I agree with you - it's so much easier when you just have a few people to worry about. We're not even getting stuff for kids this year. We have to buy a futon for my dad to stay on when he visits right after Christmas, and that is taking what little we have for gifts this year. We're doing our part of the drawing, but slightly different this year. You'll have to wait and see! :)
We actually aren't doing gifts for each other this year, either, when usually we spend *hundreds* on each other. We've vowed to fix each other our favorite sweets (I think I'm doing cookies for him, and he's doing brownies for me), and we're just going to enjoy the peace and calm of it together. It's weird that I don't really regret that much. I think it just shows that what we really get out of Christmas together is bigger than our presents for each other, too. He's so awesome. Time with him is always amazing.
