As my birthday approaches, so does the birth of my new vinyl 12" label. Access to a trust fund left to me by my grandfather (my brother and i were his only grandchildren) after his death is granted upon my 25th birthday. The label has been a brainchild of mine for years now and it looks like I'll finally have the liquidity to start it. Soooo.....
Welcome the arrival of Death Brigade Records!
The label philosophy is basically take really hard edged nasty breakcore/techstep and mix it with hardcore, punk, metal, gabber, anything fast, dark, aggressive and violent. Nasty samples, just totally demonic drum n bass. I don't want anything downtempo, I don't want anything soulful, I don't want any glitchy beats that are no longer discernible, no ripping off hip hop samples and I don't want any of this neo-rave stuff. There are some really awesome labels for that stuff. This isn't gonna be one of them. I am going to use the label to release some of my own material, but I'd like to also release like-minded musicians. Time has to be spent on it, though. Polish that shit, sound quality has to be awesome and the programming has to be as tight as you can get it, I'm not gonna put out something sloppy or boring even if I'm your friend, I have to really be digging it.
Pass the word on if you know any online communities where you think someone is busting out tracks like this and is looking for a label to release it, preferably artists with an established discography with stuff they want to put out but don't necessarily have a label willing to release it in a timely fashion (I know what it's like to wait 3 or 4 years on a release someone promises that doesn't come through). Also anyone looking to support domestic drum n bass sources, since I know there are tons but I don't have time to scour the net looking for new messageboards, I'm already on enough as it is and the time could be better spent working on music than on posting this on other boards.
