As a beginner fangirl myself, I decided that I would help others who are still discovering JE groups by recommending songs. These are personal favorites of mine so it's biased. :)))))) But yeah, these are just 6 songs from each groups. They have more great songs out there. :3 :3
Arashi
1. Cry For You
Even though this song is highly unlike the usual Arashi material, it's my favorite song of theirs and I 100% recommend it. Arashi vocals and electric guitars are a perfect combination no matter how strange it may be to hear about at first. I love the fact that the non-chorus parts are of medium tempo but when it comes to the chorus it's almost like an explosion of excitement goes off somewhere. Uwa. <3 <3
2. A.RA.SHI.
Their first ever single, and it is super win. :) :) Although I prefer Arashi as they are today, Arashi back then with their more rap/hip-hop songs is awesome for me as well. Ohno's solo at the end is lovelovelove because it deviates from the energy of the song as a whole, and because Ohno's voice is my anti-drug. <3
3. Kaze no Muko e
This is most definitely one of Arashi's best songs ever. It has a refreshing and warm feel to it, and the lyrics are very encouraging. The video's aura is very good as well; Arashi smiling while singing always steals my heart. Honestly, I can't start a day without drinking coffee and listening to even just a part of this song. :) :) <3
4. Still
I thought this song had a video because it's so good but it turns out that it doesn't have one, which really surprised me. It would've sold a bazillion records. :))))))) Oh well. The beats are happy and the boys seem to be so relaxed singing it. I think there's like a saxophone or something used in some parts of the song, particularly in Sho's rapping part. <3
5. Truth
I'm not being Ohno-biased! :)))))) This song was used for Ohno's drama "Maou" and whoawhoawhoa is it beyond hardcore. The intro part with the violins and piano pulled me in instantly, and may I just mention that Arashi in the video is the epitome of gorgeous. *drooldrooldrool* The buildup to the chorus is superb, and the parts just before the chorus with the second voices is brilliant. The combination of instruments and the way they are pulled back in some parts is just...genius. <3 <3
6. Be With You
I was going to choose a different song to recommend but Arashi's no-PV songs are just wonderful. This one is a slow song, and the lyrics are so beautiful. Arashi sings it with so much emotion, and at one point it made me want to cry in happiness and love. <3
NewS
1. Kibou~ Yell
What can I say, I love this song TO DEATH. Aside from the fact that it's catchy as hell, the words "hooray, hooray" that sound like "fwey, fwey" has won my heart every time. :))))))) The video makes me go "awww" because they were so young, my goodness. :O Their fashion sense there kinda disturbs me...I mean, flower suits? -____- I don't think the year being 1993 then is not a valid excuse for that. Oh well. Fwey, fwey! :D :D
2. Happy Birthday
Despite its theme, I personally think that this song is incredibly sexy. The beats are really good and I absolutely ADORE the chorus. The lyrics when translated are erm, heartwarming? It's a wonderful song to dedicate to someone celebrating their birthday. But even if no one's celebrating anything, it's still a good idea to dance to this. Watch the video and learn the moves! :3 :3
3. TEPPEN
I'm kinda addicted to this song. I guess it's because I saw the video and I can say that it definitely fits to be a sports theme of some sort. :)))))) The buildup before the chorus is energetic and the chorus itself is smoother than I thought it would be (as the previous part's follow-up, that is). The beats are absolutely killing me with loooovvvveeee. :3 :3
4. Weeek
It's pop rock (if there's such a thing), and my favorite song to go along with no matter how fast they're singing. :)))))) The lyrics are well thought-of, talking about how we should go about life per day, treating each day preciously. :) The video is so clear and I love how NewS is having fun with the song. :3 They're all incredibly gorgeous in suits, too. Kyaaa~ <3
5. Smile Maker
The chorus is well beyond pleasant to hear. I feel like dancing every time I hear it. :) The entire song is charged with energy and encouragement so its mood fits the title PERFECTLY. In a way, the beats and lyrics gives out the feeling of having a friend beside you when you're down in the dumps. :3 :3
6. Summer Time
I wasn't so fond of this song at first but eventually the beats, the lyrics, EVERYTHING, caught up to me and just got stuck. :)))))) It's the epitome of summer: relaxed, fun, and full of freedom. Much love for this song. :) :)
Kanjani8
1. Heavenly Psycho
Okay. Ignore the title. Even I don't know what it really means, especially because I have yet to find a proper translation of it. >______> But anyway, it's mellow-ish but not completely. It makes me so happy every time I hear it, I don't know why. I feel like everything will work out no matter what. :))))))) And, it reminds me of Uchi Hiroki, the suspended member of both Kanjani8 and NewS. Awww Uchi, come back!!!! ;_;
2. Osaka Rainy Blues
The instrumental at the beginning is such a turn-on for me. >_____< Kyaaa~ For some reason, there's something special about their voices here. I guess it's the way they sing; they expressed the words as they're supposed to be felt. The chorus is very, very good. Gaaahhh. And the video....ohmygoodness, DO NOT give me Ryo or Uchi under the EFFING RAIN because it drives me straight towards insanity. +____+
3. 8 O' Clock
This song is for those who want some LOLOLOLZ in their life. :)))))) One by one, the members introduce themselves by rapping. They are so effing confident and sure of themselves that it's HILARIOUS. :))))))) HOWEVER, I suggest that you be a bit familiar with Kanjani8 first before you listen to this because it might just seem weird. My favorite part would have to be Subaru's, coz he talks about having been asked how much he is and there's even the mention of S&M. :lmao:
4. Sukiyanen, Osaka
I wish I was Osaka. :))))))) The song is fun and quite happy, almost festive. A bit of info: all the members of K8 are from Osaka so yeah, you can feel the love that they have for their hometown in this song. It's a catchy song and waaaaiii you HAVE to watch the video--it's MURDER. :)))))))
5. Pazuru
Or "Puzzle." It's from their latest album with the same title. One has to know the lyrics' translation and at the same time be familiar with Kanjani8's history in order to truly appreciate this song but it's a good song no matter what. The tempo is a bit slow which adds to the sincerity of the lyrics. It really shows how Kanjani8 gives importance to their friendships with one another.
6. Musekinin Hero
A very energetic and fun song, qualities that Kanjani8 are most known for. When I first heard this I found it hard to stop. :))))))) Also, the video made me want to work in an office with equally hot people for my co-workers. xDDDDD
KAT-TUN
1. Butterfly
GAWD. Hardcore KAT-TUN is 10000000x better than pop KAT-TUN. :P I don't know why Johnny's Entertainment still keeps them in the pop category when they could do so well in the rock genre. Irfff. But anyway, this song is crawling under my skin as of this moment. The instruments are amazing, the singing is unquestionably very good, and the arrangement is just my cup of tea. Uwaaaa~~ \m/
2. Real Face
AWESOME buildup, intense instruments, and very exciting arrangement. It's a combination of rock, pop, and rap, and a good one at that. You don't know what will come next in terms of melody and beat so it maintains its, erm, freshness. :) :) Personally, I think Kame's voice pwns Jin's. :)))))) This one's more energetic than 'Butterfly' and a bit louder, too. I totally worship the guitar work.
3. Taboo
Violins + KAT-TUN = Gaaaaahhhh. :)))))) This song is sexiness all the way. The way their voices linger breathily at every phrase/sentence is.....:drool: GawdgawdGAWD this song makes me think of so many things (don't ask what)...!!!! >__________<
4. LIPS
KAT-TUN has this thing with surprising people. I thought the song would be slow because of the introduction but damn, it's the complete opposite. It's, um, hyper hard rock (LOLZ). I loooovvvee the way they're almost screaming the words in the chorus instead of taking the road of high notes. Upon hearing this, yes, I fell 100% in-love with KAT-TUN. :)))))) No wait! Not 100%, coz I'm not a fan of their pop songs...Fine, I'm 100% in-love with hard rock KAT-TUN. :) :) :) <3
5. Harukana Yakusoku
Even if this is more pop than rock, it's still very good. This is a ballad, in relation to other KAT-TUN songs. :))))))) Amazingly it's so catchy, but because of the instruments, you still can't put this side-to-side with the likes of songs from NewS/Kanjani8/Arashi. :O
6. Signal
I LOVED this song from start to finish. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. It's not hard rock but it's just, I don't know, smooth? :)))))))) The "chika-chika-ah" at the beginning was unexpected for me; I mean, it's KAT-TUN. :))))))) This song makes me smile whenever I hear it. Aaahhh the KAT-TUN love... <3 <3
And that's it! :D I hope I was able to help other "amateur" fangirls to decide whether or not to continue liking these groups. I know I'VE gone to liking to obsessing in a span of two weeks. :)))))) 'Till next time! :3
