Insane People

Warning. Rant ahead.

Ok, so I am in charge of the physically challenged parking and credentializing of individuals attending the PGA Championship. The tournament is now. Of course, as every year, we have last minute idiots. This year it seems more than most. However, today I spoke to a truly insane person. No, I don't mean they were whacky, outrageous character or even freaky! I mean, by pure definition INSANE. The definition of insanity... doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Ok. My conversation with said insane person:

Him: Yes, I am handicapped and want to know if there is anywhere I can just be dropped off at the front gate.

Me: I'm sorry sir, everyone is shuttled in... when are you planning to attend?

Him: You mean there is nowhere I can just get dropped off?

Me: Yes, everyone shuttles in. Now there is a physically challenged lot over at.... (he cuts me off)

Him: Nowhere on Maple maybe I could get dropped?

Me: *Everyone* gets shuttled in.

Him: How about over on Lasher and Telegraph?

(note to reader: he's talking about roads in Michigan... I am in Maryland and never been to Michigan though I do know a couple road names because of our work with the PGA)

Me: Look Sir, the PGA told us everyone is shuttled in, it's just a matter of where you have credentials as to where from. If you'd like to try to make an exception you would have to contact them directly.

Him: Do you have their number?

Me: Sorry, I do not. I suggest you call information as I have not been able to find it on their website...

Him: mumbles something and hangs up.

*blink, blink* Say it with me folks........ EVERYONE GETS SHUTTLED IN!!!!!!!! My answer was not going to change no matter how he worded it. Damn lazy, insane bastard.

You know, I don't mind helping physically challenged folks out. Heck, I'm currently challenged that way myself recently. But come on, if you can't have the intelligence or organization to make arrangements in advance as YOUR TICKETS TOLD YOU TO... then at least don't gripe or bitch or moan when someone tries to help you and goes around the rules. I've done that for so many this time around and all they do is complain. One lady actually told me I was unhelpful because I asked her to find a way to get access to a fax machine or email so we could get her arrangements done legitimately before she attended!! *sighs* At least after the week is done it's over.. til September when I get to do this for Ryder Cup! Arrggh!
