Harley and the Nolanverse

The last post on jokerxharley gave me an illumination about my position on the "Harley in the Nolanverse" hypothesis. As I said there:

I don't know. For a strange reason Heath Joker appears much more asexual than any other Joker for me [...] People keep saying how grittier Harley would have to be to work in the Nolanverse, but for me it's the reverse. She would love him like a child loves another, and at the very best they'd mimic sex, not do it.

To expand on this and give you the general picture...They'd play tag in Gotham while killing a few people, two madpeople playing kids or two kids wrapped in their grown-up madness, put it like you wish. Harley would be much more on equal footing in their feelings for one another. I can even imagine her not having the origin story. We wouldn't know she was a sane doctor before; she's Harley, she was missing her man, she bust him out of Arkham, and when a horrified Batman would come to stop them later, the scene would go:

Batman (to Harley): Why are you doing this?
Joker: Oh come on, Batman. 'Cuz she's my girlfriend (grabs Harley by the waist and place a big smooch on her cheek.)

Not more explanation. Hey, they didn't gave us a clue about Joker's origin either and we were happy nonetheless. It's not like she wouldn't have one; they just wouldn't mention it. She's Harley; she's Joker's girlfriend. That's all the definition she needs to be whole.
