Call me Old Lady

Aug 14, 2008 08:53

Sometimes, I think I'm becoming an Old Lady despite my young age. You know, the one who's constantly bitching about the new fashion, music, movies, etc.? Princess, please cover yourself with something more modest, you look like a whore. Group X, you're not making music, only barbarian sounds. Righteous Kill, despite your celebrity cast, you are shit. So here you can go and say I don't get anything to modernity, and the argument stops there.

But let me pick one in particular, because I need, NEED, to rant about it. Righteous Kill? With Robert De Niro and Al Pacino? It's shit. It's just so wrong my hair turns white just thinking about it. I don't care it's the reflect of society or whatever. Costumed, comic vigilante heroes on screen are a good way to relieve the pressure because they're fantasy. Policemen, played by two superstars, who are saying that the only way to have respect is to have a GUN, and add it's OKAY to kill the "right" people...(because after all justice is corrupted blablabla usual clichés) I don't know, I'm afraid. Movies with that kind of message are blossoming in Hollywood, nothing new, you'll say, but it's the first time I see it so solid and blunt in your face, and that, only in a trailer!

I don't say we should censor. I don't say we should only do feel-good movies. But where's the example to follow? Where's the model? Nowhere. Movies portray criminals like heroes, and now even policemen on screen say power reside in violence. Woot! The future is bright ahead.
