Cookies?

Alice sighed as she flipped though a cook book on her bed.

“Dinah, why is it so hard to pick a recipe?”

The cat just meowed and Alice sighed. “You’re right Dinah. But I wasn't to make something besides chocolate chip cookies this time. And there's so many neat things to make, I can't make up my mind.”

Alice went back to flipping through the pages. Then after a moment she sat up and grabbed the book. “Maybe someone in Wonderland can help me pick one.” She said before taking a few steps and entering her mirror.

-

She met up with Tweedle Dee and Dum. The two of them were sitting on the edge of the bridge.

“Hey, guys. Whatcha up to?”

“Oh, hello Alice.” The brothers turned from the bridge to look at Alice. “We're just trying to think of something to do. Are you doing anything?”

“Well, I'm trying to figure out what to make for my bake sale.”

“Really?” Dum and Dee jumped up and went over to Alice.

“What's the bake sale for?” Dum asked.

“Oh, it's for my school. My class is raising money for a field trip to the science museum” Alice pulled out the book she'd had with her. “But I can't think of anything to make.”

Dee took the book out of her hands and Dum started to flip through it. “Well we can help you make something..”

“Are you sure?”

“Sure.”

“How about this one?” Dum pointed to a recipe of a cake.

“Too fancy.” Dee and Alice replied. Sitting on the ground the three of them started to flip through the book.

-

“You're right, this is hard.” Dee was saying half an hour later.

“I told you.” Alice sighed. “There's just too many cool things to make.”

“Well there has to be something.”

The three of them sat there in silence for a while.

“I've got it!” Dee grinned. “Here, pass me the book.”

“Ok.” Alice passed the book over to Tweedle Dee. “Now what.”

“We open it at random page and we'll make that one.”

“I don't know...” Dum trailed off as Dee flipped to the page.

“Chocolate chip cookies?” Alice groaned. “Not again.”

“Come on Alice.” Dee and Dum jumped up. “Let's go make some cookies.”

Alice sighed as she was dragged off with the brothers. Well at least she'd have someone to make the cookies with. And chocolate chip cookies were better then no cookies at all.

-

“Now we've got everything.” Dee, Dum and Alice surveyed the kitchen.

Alice frowned. “Where are the chocolate chips?”

“Everything but that...” Dee trailed off. A thought seemed to strike him. “But I bet the Hatter has some!”

“I'll go ask him.” His brother replied. “You and Alice start making the cookies while I'm gone.”

“Sure.”

Alice and Tweedle Dee started to measure out the ingredients as Tweedle Dum ran off.

-

At the Mad Hatters house, the Hatter was sitting outside at his usual table with his friend the Hare.

“Oh, look.” The Hatter commented as he looked up from his tea. “Here comes Tweedle dum.”

“Hey Hatter, Hare. Do you have any chocolate chips?”

“I don't think so.” Hare replied, glancing around the table. “Why, do you see any?”

“I think I might have some in the pantry.” Hatter replied. “Let me check.”

Dum followed the hatted man into the house.

“What do you need them for?” The Hatter asked as he walked into the pantry.

“Dee and I are helping Alice make some cookies.” He replied. “But we kinda forgot the chocolate chips.”

The Hatter nodded as he dug through the shelves of his pantry. “There should be some around here somewhere.”

Dum glanced around the room. A moment later he spotted a blue box with the words 'chocolate chips' on them. “Oh heres some.” He picked up the box. “Thanks Hatter!”

Dum left the room as the Hatter pulled his head out of the mess. He glanced down at the bag of chocolate chips he'd just found. “That's funny. I could have sworn I only had one bag.”

-

Back at the Tweedles house, Alice and Tweedle Dee were just about finished making the cookies.

“Oh good.” Dee said as they saw Dum walking over. “You're here, I thought we'd have to go looking for you.”

“Sorry.” Dum replied. “But I got them.” He held up the box. A while later they were poured into the cookie dough.

-

A batch later, the cookies were cooled packed away in a container. “Thanks for the help.” Alice smiled as she took the container and the book from the now clean counter. “I've got to go now though. Before mom gets home. I'll tell you how the bake sale goes tomorrow!”

The brother waved her off in the front garden.

“Well that was fun.” Dee asked, a while after Alice had left. “Up for a game-”

He was cut off as he saw the Hatter and Hare running towards them.

“Hey, Hatter, Hare what's the hurry?”

“Those chocolate chips you got from me.” The Hatter replied.

“Yeah we used them to make cookies.” Dee replied. “Why?”

“Uh, yes.” The Hatter trailed off. “I think you might have taken...the wrong ones.”

“What do you mean wrong ones. The box said chocolate chips on it.” Dum replied.

“A blue box?” The Hare asked.

“Yes.”

“That's them..” The Hare looked over at the Hatter. “I told you, you should have labeled those better.”

“Well how was I supposed to-”

“Wait, wait, wait.” Dee interrupted the two. “Would you like to tell us what's wrong with those chips?”

“Uh nothing really.” The Hatter waved his hand. “Just a small experiment we were working on. We were trying to change the taste of them....”

“Oh dear...” Tweedledee glanced over at his brother.

-

“Alice, these are the strangest cookies I've ever tasted.” Her teacher walked over to her. “However did you get the chocolate chips to taste like lemon?”

Alice twisted her fingers. “Uh....secret recipe...?”
