Comments: We have the beginnings of another original in the works. Jake and Kenny spent most of the first couple of hours working on some new ideas whilst I was off trying to be brilliant with some lyrics, but came up short changed. I find that lyrics tend to be......resistant in showing up when a song is new. It feels too mechanical to just conjure them up without a definate feeling or thought to wrap them around...and when a song is new, its own feelings and thoughts are still nebulous, and therefore lacking in anything solid to write to. I've been trying to lock down the vocals for Saturday Night, but I keep screwing it up....I might end up dropping that one if there just no way in hell I'm going to get it. To get the most out of my voice we're going to have to start carefully planning our sets, it's way too hard to switch from songs like Break On Through, or Rebel Yell (more screaming vocals) to Scream or Saturday Night (more crooning) and still get the same range from my clean voice. Tonight saw the return of our good ol' bud, Harley, who helped us out on second guitar and even got on the bass while Jon was out.
