Rec: small fandoms podbook
sophinisba has been working on a super-secret project that I can now tell you about! It's a podfic collection of stories from small/rare fandoms in honour of
thingswithwings' birthday. I have been wanting to post about it for a while, because I got to hear some of the individual podfics in draft form and they are great! but obviously you can't ruin the suprise on something like this. It's been particularly hard keeping quiet about all this because one of the fics that sophinisba has recorded so beautifully is my old "real program slash" fic, which I got to listen to over a week ago, and it was so fun, but I haven't been able to tell anyone!
I say sophinisba has been working on this project, but she is not the only reader in the collection, because
such_heights did a podfic of
liviapenn's great Psych story, Gus Goes for the Gold Star. It's a yuletide story that has great meta bits about yuletide, in case a funny and totally in character Gus and Shawn is not enough to recommend it.
There are also cute promptfics by
toft (Stargaze, Psych, Shawn/Gus) and by
thingswithwings herself (The Pie Job, Leverage, Hardison/Eliot/Parker OT3). Plus a couple of fics I have not listened to yet because I'm not familiar with the fandoms (Like Water for Chocolate and Homicide: Life on the Street). Oh, and there is an older podfic of rubynye's Now, the Matter, which has The Little Mermaid non-con tentacle sex, if you want something childhood-innocence-destroying and hot.
Anyway, you should go check out the main post for the podbook, because there are download links for the whole collection or individual fics depending on your interests. I think the single podbook file is my favourite though, because you can skip around between the stories or listen to them back-to-back and there is a really sweet birthday message at the beginning.
