La nostalgie du pays

After my tales of humiliation, I must go back in time to tell of my wonderful Christmas break spent (for the most part) in my home state of Massachusetts.
Traveling seemed to take forever, but the night at Tim and Melissa's apartment spent eating chicken tacos (unheard of in France!) made every excrutiating hour worth it.
I arrived home to see the house and family in full Christmas spirit, the wily little puppies included. We had ourselves a merry little Christmas at my house including a dinner of 19 family members! The best gift by far was a clock my dad made for me with a face for French time, a face for American time, and a random thermomemter. It was made from four kinds of wood, one of which is the cherry from our backyard. On the reverse is a fleur de lis, appropriately enough. On my end, everyone likes French knick-knacks and culinary goods.
Also, I finally got to see my friends from home (it had been almost 4 months). We did some crazy things including driving all over the state to catch that new Wes Anderson movie, celebrating Kira's birthday in festive style, and crashing Boston for New Year's, where Mike and Kira found a laptop and fresh pizza in a random garbage container. I think I squeezed in a lot of fun times in the slightly less than two weeks back.
I should have blogged a bit at home and I definitely should have taken some more pictures (of, say my actual friends). Nevertheless, here are a few holiday snapshots and a link to my most recent Paris pics:

...a flamboyant Fazio get-together that always ends...

...the same way.
