My workspace

This is my own special little workspace at the moment.  I cleaned it up a while back, moved some things around to make it a little more friendly for me.  Mostly, it was a project to procrastinate.

This is the stack of journals that I've written while at work over the past year.  About 50% of them haven't been typed up yet.  There are lots of story bits that I have to organize, and I'm procrastinating just a bit.  Mostly, I have to have this burning feeling in my gut when I go to write it, and then that's magic.  Type them up with that burning gut feeling, and it usually comes out perfect.

But I have to tell myself we need to type them up with or without that feeling.  That's the next thing I'm working on.  Next month I'll have been working on a story seriously for a year, technically.  Anyway, I've been updating weekly for a year, so that's something.

The original binder that sort of kicked off everything.  I keep it off to the side of my desk here for reference, inspiration, a reminder of how silly I was when I was younger and how high in the clouds my head was.

And actually, this was the third binder.  There were two other ones full of stuff about the characters I'm writing now but those're in my closet back home which needs to be cleaned out.  This binder actually had info about the second and third generations.

My favorite art hanging on the wall.  XD  Jay made them for me and they can be seen here and here.  The picture over the monitor I have is a print I bought from Fanime of Deedlit from Lodoss War.

So here's what I really want.  I would like to add more of my influences to my wall here.  This apartment is the first to really feel like home.  I expect us to be here for a while, and it happens to be one of the few where we can actually hang pictures on the wall.  I've gotten a couple of ideas.

The first is to just get a normal 8.5 X 11 picture frame and hang up my favorite comics.  I just brought all my comics home from Mom and Dad's place, so I have plenty to draw from.  And I can change out the comics.

The second was when I saw this thread at Atari age.  I thought that was SUCH a cool idea!  I probably wouldn't need to make an entire box, just the front and back to hang up.  One guy was showing how he kept his boxes by his desk though and used these to complete his collections, which I thought was cool.  But this desk doesn't exactly have a hutch, and the last thing I need is more clutter.  So probably just box art should be enough.

The third idea is along with both those ideas.  I DO happen to have all of the instruction booklets to every game we bought completely new.  I could also hang those up because a lot of them were pretty awesome-- especially the Atari games.  Because the games were so simple, they compensated with really awesome and fun art a lot of the time that would have complete back stories.

Basically, I think we need to nerd our place up some more, because having a mini bookcase of manga, a DVD shelf for anime and other treasures, and a bookcase filled with nerdy books and video games is not nearly enough.  I think this is where the girl side of me comes into play.  Hmm.
