...in case the ice age hits

The animals out here all sound like electronic instruments.

When the javelinas gather around grunting they produce tones exactly like those at the base end of a synthesizer. There is a bird in the hills that sounds like an electronic guitar coming through headphones that you aren't wearing.

It rained last night, and since the ground around here doesn't exactly absorb water, the valley remains covered in a dark, damp drench.

The hills are filled with lichen-covered boulders. Some of them have cracked and separated so perfectly flat that they look like huge loafs of moldy sliced bread.

This morning I found a little plant husk that looks like it is made out of tire rubber. It's a little star-fish shape, black, bendy, and bizarre. Standing out among the black wiry shrubs, I suddenly realize this is the Arizona desert. This is where the meteorites always land that care alien spores and parasites, mutated by the government nuclear waste contamination zones, that creep into the old farmhouse and transform witless country folk into ravaging half-dead cow mutilators that eat babies and use human tendons as dental floss.
