Well you don't have to duel the Arishok if you don't want to (don't bring Fenris), just refuse to duel him and attack him. Your whole party joins in, and the fight is alot easier.

No, it's not inevitable, but Fenris throws a snit if you decide not to go 1v1 against the leader of the qunari warrior arm, damned elf. But of course the heroic!thing to do is to duel him 1v1. It's not that hard as a mage if you spec properly beforehand. While recharging your spells, just run around and around the pillars, Indian movie style. It does take forever though, but you can do it. u need instant cast damage spells, glyph of stun, fully upgraded winter's grasp and cone of cold, petrify, stonefist, lightning etc.

Winter's Grasp looks slow animation wise but it's counted as an instant cast, which you will need against the Arishok. Also remember to fully upgrade heal.

Aw man. I think Anders was the first to get his gift in Act 2. Him or Isabela. :) Love them both. Love getting Isabela new weapons! Every time I get new daggers I am all :D Isabela!!! :D Something SHINY and STABBITY for you - to USE that is!

Glyph of stun - is that the glyph of repulsion, the one that knocks enemies away? I was always worried about investing in that one because it takes time to cast - and a swiftly moving enemy can run out of the way / somewhere else even if you try to predict where they will be.

The things we do for friendship points. Am put in mind of that Anders/Hawke (that was how it went okay) comic where the artist wrote in his comments to the piece, "Hawke would [perform a sexual act] with a pineapple if he thought it could get him friendship points". /omg dies

I love the stun glyph! crowd control. But the cone of cold is better I guess. I always cast it on my feet, haha. In DA1 I used to use it to block entrances to a room, but DA2 there are so many enemies that I just use it to prevent people from hitting Anders. :( Anders, u so squishy.
