W-what the... did Hanna! just update twice in twenty-four hours WHAT IS THIS. Look, I'm not complaining, far from it, but... a girl could get used to this, you know.

The post here says she's been working on During REM (now renamed to Instead Of Going Up) and she'll post some of the work on dA/wordpress!
... torn between shrieking YES! and being very cautiously enthusiastic, because if you'd asked me to pick any one of her other works I was most excited about (she has a really interesting back catalogue, you should check it out) I'd have picked During REM (... largely for the Very Obvious Reasons, and also because I think the character concepts were really, really fascinating and always felt a bit sad that nothing more (I thought) was going to be done with them).
BUT. I don't get excited about things which I don't think are going to happen (in these respects and with fandom, head over heart every time), and I'm not the kind of girl who likes getting her hopes up about something which has an over-90% probability of not happening, so it's easier for me to simply not think that any of her previous works were going to be picked up again.
But! I can't wait.

I have been working on another project with my sister. I’m pretty excited for it, and it takes a lot of self control to not jump straight into that one too. It has one of my favorite characters to write for, on top of it all! It has a dark theme to it, but I’m fairly sure that everything I write/draw will have that going on. I can’t help it! I’m completely fascinated with dark subjects.
Unlike Hanna though, it’s in a more fantasy world where space age technology and magic are more established. Floating colonies and spaceships, hooray! That means it’s a lot harder for me, but I’ve always loved that kind of stuff. It’s basically about a really stuffy, alcoholic alchemy professor creating something amazing that everybody loves until it’s misused and ends up killing a few innocent people.
He becomes the scapegoat, and the elixir he made is banned and all recipes of it are destroyed. The only person who knows how to do make it anymore is him, which basically brings up a bunch of shady people wanting to get their hands on his mind.
Sounds like Macsen. The name actually makes me think of narugami 'cause of her OC. Also Macsen is clearly proof that looking like that is the fastest way to being the series' whipping bitch.

... also I totally wanted to pair Sawyer up with Lamar. With THIS kind of backstory HOW COULD I NOT:
Lamar likes to laugh things off, even when things aren't really funny. If he stubs his toe on a chair he'll laugh hysterically. It's how he copes. He is very much a people person and takes solace in company and hates being alone. He would rather share an apartment with someone who gets on his nerves than to have an empty bedroom.
Currently, he's rooming with Sawyer. They're pretty good friends and have been since highschool, when Sawyer first started turning 'weird'. Sawyer withdrew from everybody during highschool during a huge bout of paranoia where he thought everybody was going to get him.

I just know I started liking him in mid/late February. It was the whole crying-and-being-strong-and-sensible thing that really did me in, and then after that I was his hook, line and sinker.

... Sorry, Ples, this is not a fair question for you to be an answer to, because it's not like I've even decided that I won't love you, it's just that I don't think I know enough about you yet to say for sure whether I even like you or dislike you.
Also it never helps that I'm of the contrary bent and if lots and lots of people love a character and I don't have the same level of overwhelming, unqualified love for them, I sort of take a step back and do the Castiel head-tilt. It doesn't stop me from liking them or loving them later, but it does make me a lot more cautious and a much harder sell, and definitely more difficult to win over.

... So as I was saying to futuresoon, a lot of people dislike Lee, and a fair bit of that stems from the Zombie-possession. Or as I said to demoerin, when Lee did the whole GIVE ME YOUR (SECOND) CHANCE - *CLIMBS DOWN ZOMBIE'S THROAT* act.
I think I kinda really started liking him from the cast page description that Lee was really the only parental figure in Veser’s life, but he failed to really understand how much Veser needed him. That is, until he died.
... also this is supremely superficial, but:
(1) He's blond and blue-eyed;
(2) He is nice to my favourite (except for the whole Keep me company bit, that was creepy, Lee, and also not very nice: I actually have less problems with the Zombie-possession act than the fact that I think ghost!Lee could cheerfully have gone and killed Veser so Veser could keep him company);
(3) In ghost!form he is one of my favourite shades of blue.
(I like cyan and electric blue and all his shades of blue)

I think I'd like little bits of everybody, though: I want a network like Lamont's, and the ability to get pretty much anything I wanted; I want Hanna's indomitable never-let-life-or-death-or-undeath-or-anything-in-between get you down attitude; I want Veser's resilience and strength, and in particular his ability to pull himself together and do the most sensible thing and be the most sensible person in the face of a really bad thing happening to him (this trait is probably one of the biggest reasons I love him, it's here); I want Zombie's calm unflappable steadiness; and I'll probably want one or more traits from Ples once we figure out more about him, too.

... I don't know how I feel about Lamont/Worth. I definitely like them as friends, but having them compared to Wilson and House, if they were CRIMINALS, kinda puts a different spin on Lamont/Worth or Worth/Lamont.
10. A pairing that I hate:
I don't hate any pairing, but... um. Ples/Veser (a) I'm still sitting on the fence for, as long as I haven't made up my mind on Ples / until we know more about Ples; (b) ... unsettles me on a subconscious level for deeply personal reasons set out in my answer to #15. It really has nothing to do with the pairing itself, it's not the pairing, IT'S ME. IT'S ME AND I ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY FEELINGS.

Stupid Half-Selkie Boy Veser, hands down. Lee comes second. Conrad comes third because we haven't seen him around much, but he was my hands-down Chapter 1 favourite.

So I said one of the reasons I was still sitting on the fence for Ples/Veser was that I haven't made up my mind on Ples, and the other was that it unsettles me on a subconscious level for deeply personal reasons that have nothing to do with the pairing itself, and that reason is this:
... the way Veser interacts with Ples in the sketches puts me so much in mind of the way my youngest brother is with me. :/ It's to the point that I can look at some of the sketches and go, "... WE HAVE HAD THAT DISCUSSION."
Even though our relationship has a lot in common with THIS dynamic:

and then when I turned back
there was my brother
staring at me
with the exact same expression Veser is wearing in that artwork up there
and this happened:
him: " YOU WERE CHECKING HIM OUT. "
me: "NO I WAS NOT."
him: "You were SO checking him out!"
me: "..."
him: "IT'S OKAY IT'S A PERFECTLY NORMAL THING TO DO :D :D :D"
me: oh god i'm going to kill you (I told you I'm not as nice as Ples seems to be)
but you see, explaining to your youngest sibling that you were staring at a guy

is even more embarrassing

Heh. It's funny: though he's the sibling that makes me mad the most, he's the one I worry about the most as well. A friend of mine who knows me quite well thinks I love him the best, but that is NOT TRUE because I like to think I love my siblings equally. AND WHAT KIND OF PERSON LOVES THE ONE THAT IRRITATES THEM THE MOST THE MOST, that's just like ANIME/DOUJIN LOGIC.

is even more embarrassing
than having him think you were just checking him out
so that was the end of it.
Heh. It's funny: though he's the sibling that makes me mad the most, he's the one I worry about the most as well. A friend of mine who knows me quite well thinks I love him the best, but that is NOT TRUE because I like to think I love my siblings equally. AND WHAT KIND OF PERSON LOVES THE ONE THAT IRRITATES THEM THE MOST THE MOST, that's just like ANIME/DOUJIN LOGIC.
