fanfiction recommendations: one of the highest forms of procrastination
demoerin's Reborn ficlets. My hands-down favourite is #9, because it's Yamamoto and Father, on Yamamoto's attempted swan-dive off the Nanimori roof, which is an issue I feel never gets addressed enough in fanfiction, and this handles it beautifully. And it helps immensely that Yamamoto's father's opinion on suicide echoes my own.
Also, I want to wholeheartedly rec scuttlebuttincx. They write Reborn and the best Simon/Viral (of Gurren Lagann) I've ever read. They also write Yamamoto/Gokudera/Tsuna, Gokudera/Tsuna, Yamamoto/Gokudera I will actually admit to liking (because this is one of the few scenarios I consider believable for the pairing), Hibari/Tsuna, and more.
A fair bit of the fic is locked for these reasons, but you can follow these instructions and friend the journal to read it. There is enough unlocked to keep one happy (i.e. the Gokudera/Tsuna fic, which I am extremely fond of, is unlocked), but a lot of the fascinating work is under friends-lock. To cite a few examples, this Mukuro/Ken/Chikusa fic, and this Mukuro(Chrome)/Tsuna fic.
I don't understand how I always seem to be finding new!fic on the KHR Kink Meme (and I don't just mean recently-answered/written fic), but I liked (also, as these are from a kink meme, the rating of just about everything is at least R):
the Mukuro requests
These get a separate section because I seem to have found and liked so many of them this time around.
Lancia and Mukuro: In manga!canon I liked Lancia almost instantly once his real personality was revealed, and I'm especially enamoured of Lancia and Mukuro fic, whatever their relationship in said story. Mukuro is a child once in every incarnation, and in this one, he was Lancia's brother for a time (even if he was infiltrating the family in question at the time), and I believe that Lancia genuinely loved him. picnicbird's Where Everybody Gets What They Want is one of my favourite Lancia and Mukuro stories, and I think that what my favourites have in common is having Lancia remembering that he used to love Mukuro, even if he knows all too well that Mukuro is a monster by now.
Mukuro and Tsuna, obsession: Obsession is one of the things I love most to read about (perhaps because I can relate so well). This was an unexpectedly lovely and gentle find in a kink meme.
Aaaaand the next few are absolutely nothing like the ones I've listed before. Mukuro!fic from here on are definitely of the FLOOOOOR THE KINK ACCELERATOR variety:
Byakuran/TYL!Mukuro-in-Leonardo-Lippi's body. Non-con, blood involved, rating: total mindf**k.
Byakuran/TYL!Mukuro (non-con), with the entire Millefiore watching. I suspect I'm linking this as much for the enabling (and deeply hilarious) in-character comments left by the allegedly anonymous posters as for the fic itself.
Mukuro/Hibari, sakura. Extremely NC-17, non-con, and may I also add, with bonus lotus bondage.
the Tsuna fic
Because I'll read anything with Tsuna in it, with no exceptions.
Adult!Reborn/Tsuna, 'Trust'. This one gets an A+++++ from me, because there isn't nearly enough Reborn/Tsuna out there as I would want, and because of the way this was written.
Spanner/Tsuna (NC-17, non-con) - because I'm so happy that requests like these are showing up on the kink meme.
Gokudera/Tsuna, accidental molestation, NC-17.
And because I'm fond of Spanner fic, especially when it involves Spanner/Shouichi (this one also has implied Byakuran/Shouichi).
Sometimes, I think that my thinking Byakuran/Shouichi is canon is the result of reading too much fic.
And then I look at the Reborn manga, and go, "... No, it isn't just the fanfiction."
and; one for the road
Hibari/Gokudera (NC-17): revenge for Uri attempting to eat Hibird.
