all mafia, all the time.

So I was put on this case about, what, a little under two months ago, and now I'm living, breathing and sleeping the closing arguments. Regardless! I had to make time for this: This is not a Reborn post, but it's one I really wanted to make.

This is also one of those posts where you might or might not be able to tell the poster was laughing hysterically all the while it was being made, but:

mafiabanter
raison d'être
It's a community for Gentleman Johnny Marcone/Harry Dresden from Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files, an urban fantasy series about kickass wizards, vampires, werewolves, and all that good stuff. It isn't my favourite pairing, but it's definitely one of my favourites. (Contradictory? Not really) Johnny Marcone is the crime lord of the Chicago underworld, and Harry Dresden is a kickass wizard who - oh man, I could go on for an entire post about Harry, so I'll keep this (relatively) short and sweet, yes?

As far as fic goes, I recommend:

+ Fair's Fair, by thehoyden (You can read this if you haven't read the books)

+ Kissing the Tiger, by icarus-chained (Might not want to read this if you haven't read the books)

+ There's more on mafiabanter, but I haven't gotten through all of it yet. Those I liked are here.

bookshop's Dresden Files bookverse!post I would actually discourage you from clicking that link if you don't like George Clooney, because my mental image of Gentleman Johnny Marcone isn't George Clooney. Still, I'm linking it because it's the source of this quote:

"Which is also to say that you should all read this series with me, and then you should slash Harry with Gentleman John Marcone, who is a hot Mafia lord who likes to rescue hot wizards named Harry. Because they spend the first 2 books chasing each other, flirting, soul-gazing, snarking, smugly calling each other by their first names, and exchanging hot Yakuza/sulky minion banter."

I wouldn't quite characterise Harry and Marcone's relationship as Yakuza boss/sulky minion, myself - to me it's more like Mafia Lord/ Annoyed and Often Outsmarted Urban (and urbane) Wizard Who Always Seems to Get Involved With Him Somehow, Even If He Doesn't Want To.

Although admittedly hot Yakuza boss/sulky minion does have a certain ring to it, but in the context of Reborn it does give the relationship these Gokudera/Tsuna overtones which the Marcone/Dresden relationship thankfully does not have.

Also, one comment had the phrase, "you and your stupid mafia love" in it. ♥
