The world was evil and played a cosmic April Fool's Day joke on me yesterday by giving me this song on the radio as I was coming home:

Just listening to the opening stanza makes me smile. I can just see a song like this on any teen movie soundtrack. I’d describe it as, “That Idiot You Can’t Get Angry At”, which also explains why my delight at liking the song turned into a sense of gradually increasing horror when I realised that it was a perfect YamaGoku song. No, really. This is nearly-TYL!YamaGoku long-distance romance! Yamamoto can be singing the WHOLE SONG over the phone to Gokudera, who will be snarling and FULL OF HATE just because IT’S YAMAMOTO, he doesn’t need a REASON to hate Yamamoto, and WHO GIVES A DAMN IF YOU REMEMBER MY BIRTHDAY ANYWAY, BASEBALL IDIOT.
And Yamamoto is all smiles and a perfect ray of sunshine even over the phone in that absolutely infuriating way of his, ESPECIALLY when he goes, I know you hate me, hey, I miss you, too.

Gokudera is kind of as emotionally retarded as Xanxus that way (except when it comes to Tsuna, for which he is an entirely different kind of emotionally retarded). In the same way as throwing a glass at someone’s head = THANK YOU FOR BEING MY SUBORDINATE even though I can’t understand why you’re still with me, SNARLING = AFFECTION.
Anyway, the point is, it’s a beautiful day today where I am, with clear blue skies and gorgeous sunshine, so if this turns to torrential rain all too soon, it’s all my fault for the YamaGoku thoughts.
It’s no mistake that my favourite … *twitch* … I find it very difficult to put the word “favourite” next to the words “YamaGoku fic”, so shall I just say, the fic I liked best that happened to have 8059 listed as a pairing involved Gokudera finding out that he ends up with Yamamoto ten years later, and then immediately informing Tsuna that he was going to kill himself. Immediately.
