Christmas Break
I feel I should make some post outlining my Christmas break, no matter how reluctant I might be to do so. I've been even more hermitly than normal this Christmas, but it's been a nice break.
Today was wonderful outside. I realized I hadn't been outdoors for a couple days--- not entirely my fault, due to a strange cold-like virus I seem to have contracted. The last few days I'm not so sure I've improved but I've generally had trouble sleeping to do nasty drainage and such. This did end up in me declaring a New Year's Resolution, something I don't recall ever having done. Specifically I hope to adopt a more regular sleeping schedule. I've gotten to where I go to bed later and later so long as I can, meaning I've gotten up at 10, then 11, then 12, until this year 1 has become common, with going to bed around 2 or 3 but having trouble getting asleep. So I made myself get up at 11 today, and I hope to improve that further.
But anyway, like I was saying, it was a nice day. One of those 35 to 40 degree days when the whole earth is gripped in a cold, calming silence. It's a really peaceful feeling, there's that low rumble (probably traffic) that I like to misinterpret as the earth gently quaking in silence. Every now and then a bird cries out a random tweet or chirp, and crow caws. The only thing to make it better would be a nice blanket of fresh white snow. Curse you global warming!
As far as activities, I've been mostly reading and writing music. I've actually managed to get into a slump as far as writing new stuff, so I've been focusing on re-writing older songs with a new program I got for Christmas. It's Finale Allegro, which is a step down from the crazy expensive full blown version. Some of the new remasterings I've done are pretty impressive, I think, and I will probably add an entire new list of songs to my myspace page as soon as I return to UK.
On a final note, I just got involved in something rather exciting. It seems the Language Arts writer for Governor's Cup wasn't able to write for this year, so Chris Girard recommended me to write the three language arts Governor's Cup tests! I've got to start right away though since the district tournament is just around the corner.
