To add to my previous post...

I was actually having a conversation with one of my friends out here about that kind of thing... We were talking about the rights (or lack thereof) given to Gay and Lesbian couples. Though he is nowehere near as bad as some people I know, he said some things that kinda rubbed me the wrong way... (Mentally, you pervs... lol)

We were talking about how we would raise our kids (well, how he IS rasing his, and how I WOULD raise mine....) and the subject turned about to things that children should and shouldnt see at certain ages. Well, we were talking about how a nine year old should be playing games like GTA: San Andreas, or these new Mortal Kombat games, because of the fact that there was too much violence for their young minds to handle. I agreed, a little, but I also had some counterpoints. There should be an age limit for some games, but I dont think kids should be as Sheltered as some of these Self Righteous Christians (No offense to anyone) are trying to keep kids. I would rather know myself what my kids were doing, and they do it around me where I could make sure they were safe while doing it, than for them to learn it in school, where I would have no control over the consequences... I believe that kids should be able to do certain things at certain ages, and that they shouldnt be blindfolded by their parents.
Well, anyway, this went on to discussing Gay and Lesbian Couples. While he agreed that they should be able to be married and adopt children, he had one thing to say about it.
That they change it from being called Married to being called "Legally Bound" or some other such nonsense. I aske dhim why they couldnt be called "Married" like the rest of the world. His response: (Not verbatim, but the general Idea is here....)
"That it isnt the same definition of Marriage in the bible. Marriage is supposed to be a Blessed union of a man and a woman. I think that Two men getting married is sort of a blasphemy against the thought of Marriage."
Of course, I got a little peeved, and returned a line:
"Well, what is marriage? A legal, and holy binding of two people who love each other explusively. It is stated nowhere that it had to be Man and Woman. If two men love each other enough that they want to be Married, then why cant they?"
"I am not saying they cant, but that they should call it something else."
"Like what?"
"I dont know... Like Legally Bound, or something."
"Why bother if it is all the same thing anyway? I mean, if it is the same thing as Marriage, why change the name?"
"Because I just dont think it is right tto call that the same thing as something that is supposed to be a very religious thing."

I really dont understand people... >_
