My 2009 New Year's resolution. Ambitious, not to be taken too seriously, but to get back into or learn for the first time a number of skills that I never got around to or abandoned at some point:
Jiu-Jitsu
Spinning/Scratching, general DJing things
Cooking
Music theory
Chess
Writing (both fiction and poetry)
Electric bass (haven't practiced very much in the past 2 months, which is kind of sad; have to get back to where I left off)
Max/MSP/Jitter and other multimedia programming
Web Design with Flash (and some HTML-based stuff too...)
Better programming, because some decent programming could come in handy one day
Graphic design
Photography
Math -- totally geeky, but now that I'm not taking any more math classes I decided that I wanted to touch up on my knowledge of linear algebra and programming abstractions and teach myself group theory and some more topics in information theory; not to mention keep practicing calculus as a way to keep my mathematical skills sharp.
Obviously this is a bit unrealistic and besides that point, who the fuck knows what I'm going to be interested in 3 months from now let alone 6 or 9? But I figure that this is a good way to lump together a bunch of stuff into a more general new year's resolution, which is to see how many of these abandoned or neglected pursuits I can get rolling again. It'll be fun to find out.
